IoE (Institute of Engineering)

The Institute of Engineering, established in 1930, is the first technical school of Nepal. It was reformed in the present shape in 1972 as an organ of Tribhuvan University. Besides producing low and tertiary level technicians, IOE runs professional diplomas, undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. programs.

Electrical Club Members of NCE

IOE ELECTRICAL CLUB is the team of electrical students studying at IOE. The group was established to fascilate the students to share their ideas regarding electrical technology and electrical projects. The club helps students to support and guide the projects in which they are engaged in

Various Sports Awards

The Nepal national basketball team represents Nepal in international basketball competitions and is managed by the NCE College.

Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging Technology

Wireless electricity is quite literally the transmission of electrical energy without wires. The principle behind the Tesla coil is to achieve a phenomenon called resonance. The massive amount of energy makes the magnetic field collapse quickly, and generates an electric current in the secondary coil.

Power System Analysis II

1.a. What do you mean by interconnected power system? Describe merits and demerits of the interconnected system.

Ans: The power system in which a number of generators of different area operated in parallel to meet the total load of these areas is called interconnected power system. In other language A power  system in which two or more generating station transmission station and distribution system are interconnected together to supply a common load is called interconnected power system.

Merits of interconnected power system

  • Availability increases:

When there is a fault in a system the power can be taken from another system. Hence continuity of supply can be maintained.

  • Reliability:

Power quality can be maintained in an interconnected system, Distribution in a system can be insulated while giving continuity to rest of the system.

  • Minimization of cost/Investment:

In term of back up plant interconnected system conserve the need of energy without installing a new generator.

  • Overall efficiency is increased as power generated is not wasted as in case of independent system.

Demerits of interconnected power system

  1. Interconnection process is complex even a small variation in voltage frequency is not allowed.
  2. chance of faults spreading is more in interconnected system.
  3. maintenance cost is increased due to safety facility.
  4. communication is tedious and required in making every discussion.
  5. continuous monitoring is required.
