What happened when we insert a dielectric in the capacitor?
If we insert any dielectric ina capacitor it will increase the capacitance of that capacitor. this is because when we apply a voltage across the dielectric capacitor polarization occurs in dielectric molecules. Due to which a secondary field (Es) is induced.whose direction is opposite to the direction of the applied field(V). Which causes a decrease in the net resultant field in between plates of the capacitor. As voltage source is fixed as well as the separation between capacitor plate is also fixed so E=V/d will also be fixed. Since the resultant field is decreasing due to dielectric so to maintain this (Enet<E) more amount of charge will be transferred throw the one plate of the capacitor to the second plate of the capacitor. and due to this action amount of induced charges on either plate if the capacitor increases to equalize with an electric field between the plates of the capacitor so increasing induce charges on the plates of the capacitor means an increase in capacitance of the capacitor
